Brandon's Story

Eleven years ago the world lost a beloved son, grandson, nephew and friend. Brandon Harper came into this world on Tuesday, February 26, 1980 and became an angel on Saturday, January 20, 2007. Brandon was the victim of a tragic automobile accident at Betteravia and Broadway in Santa Maria. Brandon was out getting dinner when a drunk driver, evading law enforcement crashed into his Chevrolet truck.

Brandon touched the lives of his family, friends, peers, coworkers, and teachers. He made an impact on everyone he came in contact with. Everyone who met him felt his sincerity, genuine warmth, passion, sarcasm, enthusiasm and commitment; Brandon was loved and respected by all who knew him.

Through his life, Brandon enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. He was an avid Raiders, Lakers and Dodgers fan who enjoyed wearing his various sports jerseys wherever he went and attended their games whenever he could. He loved bringing people together for gatherings, especially bar-b-ques. If Brandon had his way he would have told you he was the next Tupac; he loved listening to and making music.
We will never forget the sparkle in his eyes, his boundless energy, his bias towards action, his humility and modesty, his dedication his friendships and constantly striving to make his family proud.

Brandon was an only child and is survived by his father, Therron L. Harper of Santa Maria, mother, Catherine L. Harper of Santa Maria, grandparents, Edward and Evelyn Mang of Santa Maria, aunts, uncles and cousins.

To honor Brandon, we created the Brandon L. Harper Memorial Scholarship Fund to be awarded to a senior high school student who exemplifies the qualities that Brandon modeled.
